The U.S. Chess Catalog was a quarterly retail publication distributed nationally with Chess Life and Schoolmates, serving as a major revenue and outreach vehicle for the U.S. Chess Federation. The catalog featured a wide range of merchandise, including apparel, chess sets and boards, computers, accessories, books, and branded swag, helping bring chess into homes, schools, and clubs across the country. As Senior Art Director and Director of Publications, Jami Anson worked directly with the Executive Directors—most notably Al Lawrence, whose leadership was a driving force behind sales growth—to expand the catalog’s presence and market reach. Jami collaborated closely with the sales team to develop product concepts, manage budgets, coordinate with vendors and printers, and oversee all aspects of catalog design and production.

A strategic partnership with Chess and Bridge of London further expanded offerings and increased sales internationally. Jami also directed and produced merchandise photo shoots, ensuring each page was thoughtfully designed to balance strong visual appeal with clear, effective retail presentation.
