The World Chess Hall of Fame in Miami was the realization of Shane Samole’s visionary dream, emerging as a globally recognized cultural destination and a featured highlight of the Miami arts and sports scene. Conceived as a celebration of chess history, innovation, and culture, the museum drew worldwide attention for its ambitious scope and dynamic programming.
Jami Anson worked closely with Shane Samole and Al Lawrence to support the launch of the Hall of Fame, helping bring to life an extraordinary opening week that showcased the game in unforgettable ways. The inaugural celebration included a full weekend of grandmaster chess simuls, curated exhibitions, a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony, a commemorative golf tournament, a live chess match performed with a Shakespearean theatre ensemble, and a black-tie gala and auction that culminated the event. Together, these experiences marked a landmark moment for chess in the United States and established the World Chess Hall of Fame as an international cultural institution from its very first week.
