The Plattekill Historical Society celebrates and shares the rich history of Southern Ulster County, New York through monthly free local history speakers, engaging seminars, hands-on interactive activities, and free field trips that bring the past to life. From the area’s deep Indigenous roots and early Dutch and Huguenot settlement to its farming traditions, mill towns, and role in regional trade along the Hudson River, Southern Ulster County has a story shaped by land, industry, and community. The Society’s programs explore how small hamlets, churches, schools, and family farms helped define daily life over generations, while highlighting the people and events that influenced the region’s growth. Open to all ages and backgrounds, the Plattekill Historical Society offers welcoming opportunities to learn, connect, and experience local history where it happened—at no cost to the public.
