One of the Plattekill Historical Society’s most popular and anticipated events is its annual Golf Tournament, with this year marking the 13th Annual outing. Held at the beautiful Apple Greens Golf Course, the tournament brings together golfers, sponsors, and community members for a fun and meaningful day in support of local history. All proceeds from the event directly fund the speakers and educational programs that the Society proudly offers free to the community throughout the year, making the tournament not only a highlight on the calendar, but also a vital source of support for enriching and accessible programming.

The annual Golf Tournament is held in loving memory of Shirley V. Anson—beloved historian, author, and founder of the Plattekill Historical Society—whose passion and dedication laid the foundation for preserving Plattekill’s history. Hosted each August, the tournament honors her legacy of scholarship, community service, and commitment to making history accessible to all. By celebrating her life and work through this event, the Society continues Shirley’s mission, ensuring that her vision lives on through the programs, education, and community connections supported by the tournament.
