Edible Arrangements gives $500 to Always There's Adult Day Program Sunset Garden Kingston, New York, July 19, 2011
On July 18th 2011 Owner Aislinn Smith & Edible Arrangements celebrated five successful years in business. The ribbon cutting & Anniversary Celebration was held in conjunction with the Ulster Chamber of Commerce, the New Paltz Regional Chamber of Commerce & the Esopus Business Alliance. Ms. Smith employs a team of over 15 people between two stores and has experienced great success over the past few years. "We have been very fortunate to have a great team and a great community" says Smith. In an effort to show her appreciation for local support and symbolically planting strong roots in the community. Ms. Smith is planning on a gift donation to Always There ( In-Home Health Care & Adult Day Programs) to be used towards the Always There Sunset Garden, which is to be developed on their campus at 918 Ulster Avenue. In addition to providing the monetary donation of $500,
Edible Arrangements of Kingston has also committing to provide compost for the garden using fruit remnants and scraps. Always There is extremely grateful for the support from Edible Arrangements. The Edible Arrangements' Donation will go towards funding a landscaped enclosed garden for our Adult Day Program clients, including the installation of fencing, seating, pavers, landscaping and a permanent dedication plaque.
Always There would like to have this special garden for clients of Kingston’s Adult Day Program. What a way to permanently improve the community and give back for many years to come! This garden will not only be an attractive environment for clients, but a therapeutic stimulation, both physical and sensual. Uniquely, it will provide remembrance therapy, featuring nostalgic items from gardens past, like a wheelbarrow, dustbin, bird table and other items of nostalgia which research indicates create a ‘homely’ safe environment for clients. Traditional garden boxes like – lilac, forsythia, hydrangea and others, will also recreate a sensory time of the past and bring the ‘home garden’ etc. Remembrance therapy is now recognized as an important factor in care and can have a positive influence on clients’ moods and ability to relax. The installation of the garden will be permanent and located at Always There’s Main Office at 918 Ulster Avenue, Kingston, New York.
It was to be located close to the building for convenience of the handicapped clients. The size of the area will be 25 feet by 10 feet. A garden for our adult day program will bring countless hours of joy and healthy sunshine to many individuals over the year. Deborah Glassey, Always There’s Executive Director, said: “We are delighted to have this exciting and fulfilling project, which can have real benefits to the Always There’s Adult Day Programs and to many individual’s quality of life.”
Always was sold to Archcare in 2017.
